You can build piecemeal — but you'll usually overspend. Buying glove-then-wrap-then-mouthguard separately tends to mean you end up with mismatched sizing and add-ons you don't use. The starter kit pre-matches sizes so it works as a set from day one.

What size gloves should be in a beginner kit?

For an adult over 65kg, 16oz training gloves. Under 65kg, 14oz. Heavier gloves protect your knuckles while your form stabilises.

Are these kits suitable for kids?

Yes — the Kids Kit is sized for ages 8 to 13 and uses 8oz gloves with 2m wraps. The Youth Kit is sized for 14 to 17 and uses 12 or 14oz gloves with 2.5m wraps. Don't put a child in adult gloves.

Adult vs kids starter kits — what's actually different?

The kids version uses lighter gloves, shorter wraps and a smaller mouthguard. The adult version is sized for full-grown fighters. Don't try to share gloves between an adult and a child — sizing is wrong both directions.

What's missing from the starter kit that I might still need?

After your first month you'll likely add shin guards, a duffel bag sized for full kit, and proper boxing or Muay Thai shorts. Once you start sparring, add a headguard, chest protector if female, and separate sparring gloves.
